Job Title: Claim Analyst 
Department: Claims 
Location: Winston-Salem, NC 

 

STATEMENT OF POSITION:

 The Claim Analyst is responsible for validating traditional and bulk primary MI claims for assigned servicers, as well as, reviewing and settling claims within set parameters.  The Claim Analyst will also review and approve loans modified under the HAMP program.  This position will also include review and preparation of eligible deficiency judgment candidates for referral to outside counsel.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

 

·         Validate claims and review for allowable line item expenses, including short sales, third party sales and presales

·         Validate supplemental claims

·         Request additional documentation when necessary to complete the Claim for Loss

·         Review loan payment history on bulk and primary claims to confirm valid coverage at time of default

·         When applicable, mail MI premium refund and bulk ineligibility letter to Servicers and GSE’s

·         Input property value to potential purchase model to prepare file for loss mitigation review

·         Review claims with optional guaranty of $75,000 or less, and request claim settlement check in Pass

·         Review and approve non-GSE loans for modifications that under the HAMP program fail the NPV test

·         Review loans that have been  modified under delegated authority by Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac and non-GSE’s for compliance under the HAMP program

·         Review, negotiate and approve presale offers

·         Monitor DSS report #226 to identify candidates for possible deficiency pursuit and order drive-by BPO value

·         Review BPO value to determine deficiency amount and send recommended bid  letter to Servicer

·         Follow up with Servicer to confirm successful bid price and obtain necessary documentation  to complete the deficiency file for referral to outside counsel

·         Monitor and maintain settled claims chosen for deficiency judgment referral

·         Other duties as requested by Team Lead

 JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 Education and Experience:

 ·         3 years experience in mortgage industry

 Skills and Training:

 ·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         Excellent organizational skills

·         Proficient data entry skills

·         Document tracking and retention skills

 Knowledge:

 ·         Thorough knowledge of the mortgage industry

·         Sound knowledge of MS Office products

   Characteristics:

 ·         Detail oriented

·         Flexibility in assigned tasks

·         Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks efficiently

·         Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers

·         Ability to work both independently and in a Team environment

·         Maintain confidentiality
